Whether your decorating style is contemporary or Old World, tile is a great way to dramatically improve the aesthetics of your home or business.
Amy Linville at McCullough Tile & Stone knows something about decorating with tile, it’s in her genes. More than 50 years ago her father started McCullough Tile, a factory-direct wholesaler and importer, with the first tile showroom in the Southeast. McCullough Tile & Stone has been transforming kitchens, bathrooms, spas, fireplaces, patios and fountains in homes and businesses since 1962.
“Every job is like the first job,” said Linville. “I enjoy watching it evolve – from working with the customer to come up with a great design plan, to working with the contractor or remodeler on the drawing and specifications. We stay hands on.”
McCullough Tile & Stone has a ceramic tile showroom that’s over 2000 square feet, with tile that is from mainstream to very exclusive designs. Linville and her design staff often look for tile that is unique, so they can offer designs not found anywhere else.
Since McCullough is a local family-owned business, they will often give back to the community, and have donated material to the Winston-Salem Children’s Museum, the Ronald McDonald House and SECCA. But the reason Linville is most proud of her company, is for the care they take with their customers.
“Our customers not only comment on our quality, but also on our service,” said Linville. “You don’t just walk into our showroom and look around. Our design staff greets each customer and takes great care of them. I know the names of clients we haven’t seen in 10 years, as well as the color of their tile.”
Marshall Stone brings together every resource needed to make a project successful
Understanding trends and providing the engineering vital to build permanent value is the goal at Marshall Stone, a leading supplier of natural and manufactured stone.
From the firm’s Kernersville Design Center, and a second facility serving southwest Virginia, president Jeff Younginer and his team bring together every resource needed to make a commercial or residential project a success. Whether a project is residential or commercial, you are a contractor or a do-it-yourselfer, the bottom line, Younginer says, “is that we are the resource for stone.”
Indeed, he says, “At Marshall Stone, we are many things to many different people; we work with homeowners, general, pool, and landscape contractors, remodelers, developers and architects. We don’t have a cookie-cutter approach; we listen to the customer. We ask, ‘What is it you want, and how can we help you?’”
Originally an architectural and design professional with Marshall Concrete Products, Younginer saw an opportunity to become the area’s premiere stone supplier when that company was sold nearly a decade ago. Retaining the Marshall name, the firm has since grown to offer one of the largest inventories of artificial and natural stone in the area.
“Stone and masonry define permanence and worth in construction today and we strive to offer the full spectrum of material, in the designs you want, at a price you can afford,” Younginer says. “We offer a full range of natural stone from all over the world, and we are a direct importer from India, Brazil, Turkey and China among others. At the same time, we are experts in value engineering. There have been great innovations in manufactured stone elements that are designed to cut costs, and we are able to design the style and color of manufactured stone elements to your specifications and budget.”
This ethic extends to commercial construction, as well as residential and remodeling projects. “I want people to have confidence that they can come to Marshall Stone and get the project they want and be thrilled with the results when they’re done,” Younginer sums.
