Durable and beautiful granite countertops are enormously popular and even help sell houses. But selecting the granite and having it installed can be a puzzling and stressful process.

Bloomday Granite and Marble Custom Countertops continues a legacy dating back to 1945, when Fred Day and Nonnie Bloom Cooke founded Cooke and Mabe Monuments. Now managed by grandson Frederick Cooke, Jr., Bloomday’s 20-plus employees are dedicated to superior craftsmanship, customer service and installation, even when it means working longer hours and meeting customers in the evening.

Visitors to Bloomday’s warehouse can choose from 3-centimeter-thick slabs of a variety of colors and natural variations. They can also select what parts of the slab will be used in their countertops. Pointing to some darkened spots in one slab, Leigh Davis explained, “Some customers would say, ‘Please avoid that part,’ while others would say, ‘Be sure you include that part!’ It’s all a matter of individual taste.” Allowing customers to see an entire slab is an advantage not offered by discount retailers, she added. Customers who order from a discounter are sometimes surprised when the granite doesn’t look like the small sample they saw in a store.

After the customer selects the granite and type of edging, Bloomday cuts, finishes, and treats it with a 15-year sealant, then does the installation, which is guaranteed for the life of the product.

“We do everything we can to make the process simple and less stressful,” Davis said. We are not the least expensive, but we offer the best product and customer service possible.”

A timeless material leading a new age of design.

There are few design materials as unique both in appearance and application as natural stone. A timeless construction material, stone has weathered the test of time through all design climates. In today’s world especially, stone used in design is the catalyst for creating unique, long lasting statements for today’s homeowners and businesses.

As a family-owned business, Scott Stone opened its 15 acre distribution center in Mebane, NC in 1985. In 2006, the Greensboro showroom and design center opened its doors and has developed a reputation for delivering high quality stone and related products with an utmost focus on customer service. “We’re not just a stone yard,” owner Steven Scott has been keen to point out over the years; noting the training and professionalism his staff has gained with over 27 years in the business. Making dreams into reality is a key point evidenced in the Scott Stone’s Greensboro showroom, where you are surrounded by natural stone in all possible applications. Assisting everyone who walks in regardless of stone knowledge or experience is a defining characteristic as well, with employees seeking to educate those who don’t know about stone, and assisting those that do. From the DIY weekend warriors to the architecturally designed commercial project, finding the right product to create the designers vision is what they do well.

Architects and contractors often rely on stone to highlight the expressiveness of their vision. A certain texture or color can make all the difference in the statement of an indoor or outdoor room. With new technologies, stone is no longer limited in use to a wall or walkway. It is now a key part of many designs in both function and aesthetics. While being “green” has become an important factor for all areas of design, natural stone remains the original “green” material for construction. Scott Stone prides itself on staying on top of all environmentally friendly developments, including offering recycled granite, permeable pavers, as well as giving options of how different stones can work in different landscapes; creating impressive areas with low environmental impact.

Scott Stone wants to make every person’s stone experience the best it can be. It’s not just about providing the perfect stone for the job, but the rock-solid service involved in bringing a customer’s dream to life.
